To use this process to renounce your U.S. citizenship under Section 349(a)(5) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) at the U.S. Consulate General Amsterdam, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- you are at least 18 years old,
- you are able to read or speak English,
- you do NOT have any developmental or intellectual disabilities, and
- you do NOT have a legal guardian appointed to you.
Please note! U.S. citizens who have recently acquired Dutch citizenship or are pursuing it, and who choose to renounce their U.S. citizenship at another U.S. mission outside of the Netherlands, may be required to submit a Certificate of Loss of Nationality with an apostille for the Certificate to be recognized by the Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND).
