Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Security Reminder
U.S. Consulate General Amsterdam
July 30, 2016
The U.S. Mission to the Netherlands would like to bring to the attention of U.S. citizens today’s Dutch Government announcement that additional security measures are being taken at and around Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Click here for an English version of that announcement.
We remind all U.S. citizens to be aware of your local security situation and take appropriate steps to bolster your personal security.
We encourage you to review the information contained in the current Worldwide Caution issued on March 3, 2016 and the Travel Alert for Europe issued on May 31, 2016. These messages alert U.S. citizens to the risk of potential terrorist attacks throughout Europe, targeting major events, tourist sites, restaurants, commercial centers and transportation.
Review your personal security plans, remain aware of your surroundings and monitor media and local information sources for updates. Factor updated information into personal travel plans and activities. Address specific safety concerns to Dutch law enforcement authorities who are responsible for the safety of all visitors to the Netherlands.
