Dutch police informed U.S. Consulate General Amsterdam of a demonstration scheduled to take place on the Museumplein Wednesday, February 15, 2017, from 1300-1400.
The demonstration is in opposition to the arrest in Germany of a member of the (Turkish) Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party/Front (DHKP/C). The group is expected to demonstrate in front of the U.S., Turkish, and German consulates before returning to the Museumplein to pass out flyers. The group is expected to depart the Museumplein at1730.
Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
