No more extra pages, just bigger passports

Effective January 1, 2016, the Department will eliminate the supplemental 24-page Visa Page Inserts (VPIs) for passports. Requests for VPIs will only be accepted until December 31, 2015. Currently, 52-page passport books are being issued to all applicants applying for passports overseas.  This policy aims to lessen the burden on frequent travelers who need more pages and on those customers who may need to update residence permits or foreign entry/exit visas to comply with foreign country immigration practices.

If your current passport is almost out of pages and you travel frequently, please consider requesting Visa Page Inserts as soon as possible. You can still do this by mail or in person, up to December 31. Follow the instructions on this page.
