Message for U.S. Citizens – National Day of Mourning in Honor of President George H. W. Bush. Closure of U.S. Embassy in The Hague and U.S. Consulate General in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (December 4, 2018)

Event: As the Nation mourns the loss of President George H. W. Bush, President Trump has taken official action to allow Federal employees to join their fellow citizens in remembering our forty-first President of the United States. The President has issued an Executive order to close Federal offices on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. In line with this decision, both the U.S. Embassy in The Hague and the U.S. Consulate General in Amsterdam will be closed on December 5.
Condolence books for the President’s family are available for signature in the lobby of the Embassy on Tuesday, December 4, and Thursday, December 6, from 10:00-12:00, and from 13:00-15:00. Signing opportunities at the U.S. Consulate General in Amsterdam will be on Tuesday, December 4, and Thursday, December 6, from 14:00 – 16:00. There is no signing opportunity on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, in observance of the national day of mourning.
