On November 5, 2018, the brand new U.S. Embassy opened its doors to 125 representatives of the Wassenaar service club community: the Ladies Circle, the Soroptimists, the Round Table, three Rotary clubs and three Lions clubs.
In the presence of Wassenaar’s Mayor, Mr. Frank Koen, the evening was opened by Ambassador Pete Hoekstra. He welcomed all the guests and emphasized the warm relationship between the Netherlands and the United States, that now exists for more than 400 years. The ambassador mentioned that one can be grateful to be in the position that one can help others. A message that exactly fits with the main goal of the various service clubs: to serve others and society.
After listening to the national anthems of both the United States and the Netherlands, the company enjoyed a wonderful turkey dinner, a reference to the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.
The members of the service clubs enjoyed the warm reception at the U.S. embassy and look back on a memorable evening.
