Ambassador Hoekstra and a U.S. Embassy team joined over 15,000 other riders in the traditional Fietselfstedentocht on Whit Monday.
The 235 km (or 146 miles) track led the participants through the eleven cities and the countryside of the beautiful province of Friesland, from Dokkum in the East to Stavoren on the shores of the IJsselmeer.
What a great day it was, despite pre-breakfast rains and gusty winds throughout the day. It only made the finish in Bolsward more hard-fought.
Thank you to the @fietselfsteden for organizing a truly flawless event again, and to the people of Friesland for the good cheer and support along the way.
