U.S. Consulate Amsterdam wishes to notify all U.S. citizens that Dutch authorities have announced that a demonstration is scheduled in the vicinity of the U.S. Consulate General Amsterdam on Sunday, 25 September 2016.
The demonstration is for “more tolerance in society.” Demonstrators will assemble at the Metro Train Station Bijlmer (near the Ziggo Dome/Amsterdam Arena) with a scheduled march to the Museumplein. This demonstration is scheduled to take place on Sunday the 25th of September at noon and will continue until 6 p.m. The sponsor of this event is the Parade van Ieder1.” Police estimate approximately 5,000-15,000 participants, among them several Dutch politicians and famous artists. Police will maintain a significant presence during the demonstration and people visiting the city should expect traffic delays due to select road closures and detours, especially during the march from Bijlmer Metro Train Station to the Museumplein.
