Demonstration Alert – U. S. Consulate General Amsterdam, Netherlands

Location:  Announced gathering points include, but are not limited to, the area near the RIVM building in Bilthoven. 

Event:  On Wednesday, July 22, a group from the Farmers Defense Force (FDF) is expected to travel to Bilthoven, Netherlands to protest proposed legislation.  The group will assemble at 2:00 pm at the RIVM building in Bilthoven.  The duration of the protest is not yet known.  This event has the potential to cause significant vehicular traffic congestion but is expected to be peaceful.  You should plan extra time for travel or consider utilizing alternate forms of transportation such as a bicycle.

U.S. government personnel and U.S. citizens should avoid areas of demonstrations and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.  Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can quickly turn confrontational and escalate into violence.  The police will be present to ensure public safety.  

Actions to Take:           

  • Avoid the areas near RIVM in Bilthoven during the event.
  • Avoid crowds.
  • Avoid demonstrations.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
