February 16, 2018 – Ambassador Hoekstra and his wife Diane hosted 10 participants of the third IMC Weekend School’s “Ambassador’s Training” program at their Residence for a meeting and dinner.
The IMC Weekend School, organizes extracurricular Sunday lessons for high-potential school children in underprivileged communities throughout the Netherlands. It currently has ten branches. During a three-year course, volunteers introduce students to a wide range of professions and topics, including medicine, law, computer studies, philosophy, and the arts. The curriculum also includes training in presentation, research, debate, and conflict resolution.
The “Ambassador’s Training program of the IMC Weekend School includes several weekends of seminars and workshops to prepare participants to become ambassadors to the Dutch public for the Weekend School, and to be a force multiplier for the program within their respective communities. It includes attention to presentation skills, media training, and networking for the alumni of the Weekend School, aged 16-21.
Ambassador Hoekstra tweeted on the IMC Weekendschool:
“Diane and I spent the evening with the incredibly impressive student ambassadors from the #imcweekendschool. These talented young people are ones to watch. They are the future leaders of the Netherlands.”
